So I'm in a car driving down the road going forty miles an hour. I take my cellular phone out of my pocket, toss it straight up in the air, and catch it in my hand again without having to move my hand anywhere. So I start to think... If I throw my phone straight up, would it not, to the bystander on the side of the road, be traveling at the same speed as the car, in this case, forty miles an hour? While the phone is in the air, it is still traveling forward which is why I don't have to maneuver my hand anywhere to catch it. Thus, an example of a cell phone traveling at forty miles an hour, safe and sound. That is awesome.
