The human race is no new thing, we have been walking the Earth for over 200,000 years. But much has changed. Humans today are (obviously) very different than humans thousands of years ago. Not only do we look, talk, and think differently, but we live differently. In biblical times, the average man could live to well over 900 years old. Today, the average individual in the United States only lives to 77 years. Our average lifespan has decreased dramatically, even to less than ten percent of what it was. So why such a change, especially one so extreme? I think this: Our lifestyle today compared to olden days is much different, much quicker, much more fast paced. Thus, because we are nowadays able to travel and communicate so much quicker than we use to, we have actually caused ourselves to not only live faster, but to die faster. Today, we can pick up a phone and be talking to someone on the completely other side of the planet within seconds. We can travel by driving anywhere at amazing speeds. Back then, you had to walk or ride your horse, extremely limiting where you can go in an amount of time. You can do in a matter of hours today what would sometimes have taken you years to do in olden times. It seems we are just digging ourselves into a never ending hole. Our advanced, lazy lifestyle that has helped make life so much easier is taking its toll methinks.
