One day, a buddy of mine got too curious and decided to try cocaine. Liking it, he continued to use it until he became addicted. He started to get so desperate for it that he spent all the money he had towards the addiction. His craving remained, even after all his money was spent, so he tried to bargain with his dealer. They decided that if he would give the dealer a ride to and from work, the product would be supplied for free. Because the cocaine had such a strong grasp on him, my friend accepted. As they passed a local high school one day on the way to work, the dealer told my friend to pull over and wait because he had something he needed to do. My buddy did so, and waited in the car for several minutes, only to see the dealer come out of the school doors in handcuffs and surrounded by a swarm of policemen. They came over and pulled my friend out of the car, handcuffed him, and took him to jail. The sting set up by the police was a success, yet again. MORAL: Police are not stupid. Don't take chances, don't get too comfortable. Keep your distance and stay smart & cautious.

Our world today is run under the influence of greed. Think about it. People gain power by gaining money. The more money you make, the more power you get. These powerful people then take their money to make businesses which are run by other people who are only working under the influence of greed themselves as they wait patiently for payday to come around. We always want more money, higher wages, lower prices. But this is only to a certain extent. There are those few people who money has no effect on, people who can see right through its contagious poison. Sadly, I am not one of them (ha). Money has damaged our society, it seems damaged it more than assisted it. It has infected the minds of millions, driving them to want more power, more wealth. It is a trading solution that has backfired and is causing more and more tension each and every year. May the power of greed someday be overcome, and the difference between want to need be more clearly defined.

A little sketch I drew up during Counsel Aid, 6th period. It seems I can come up with some pretty cool designs if I'm bored enough. Every line in this pic was drawn with a straightedge ruler. Just ignore the little part where the ruler moved on me...

One thing that we as humans will never be able to perfect is approximating the amount of time left for a computer task, and that includes showing the amount of remaining battery in our wonderful electronics. The battery was first invented in 1799, over two hundred years ago, yet its amount of power remaining still remains a mystery to us. What can predict when a battery is really low on energy? The truth is, we really have no idea. Battery scientists have spent thousands of hours of labor trying to resolve this issue, but no further breakthroughs have yet been obtained. Will the truth ever be revealed, or will it remain mysterious forever such as its close brother, the gas gage? The world may never know.
